The site, on Station Approach in Sheringham, is set to be transformed into a modern transport hub aimed at improving public transport access.
Norfolk County Council said the scheme could be finished between January and March 2027, with efforts under way to return bus services to the area as soon as possible.
A council spokeswoman said: “We are committed to returning buses to Station Approach as soon as possible and will reopen the stop as soon as the shelter has been removed and the space is made level and safe.
“Our focus is on working with partners to ensure the project is delivered smoothly and brings long-term benefits for residents, businesses and visitors.”

The redevelopment follows the demolition of Sheringham’s well-known 1950s bus shelter on Monday, bringing an end to a saga that had national attention.
The structure had been at the centre of a nine-day sit-in protest earlier this year, but Sheringham Town Council voted in June to press ahead with plans for the new travel hub.
