An amber heat-health alert has been issued for Norfolk as temperatures are expected to exceed 30C.
The alert, issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), covers London, the South East, South West and East of England, and is in place from Thursday afternoon until 8pm on Tuesday.
The UKHSA warns that the heat could significantly impact health and care services, with increased demand expected from vulnerable people.
The alert also highlights an increased risk to health for individuals aged over 65 years or those with pre-existing health conditions.
Parts of Norfolk, including Norwich and Thetford, are expected to be as hot as Barbados from Friday onwards .
Heatwave conditions may be met by Saturday and Sunday, with the warmer weather set to continue into next week.
Gregory Wolverson, deputy chief forecaster at the Met Office, said: "Many parts of southern and eastern England are likely to see temperatures high enough to meet heatwave thresholds.
"It's important to note that while temperatures may be high, we might not all see the wall-to-wall sunshine and blue skies we experienced back in May, because there is more cloud around."
He added that there is a chance of thunderstorms developing in some parts of the country, with heavy rain.
Temperatures will be well above average, pushing into the mid 30s (°C) by Monday.

Matt Day, general manager at Beccles Lido in Suffolk, said he expected more people to visit this weekend during the heatwave.
He said: "There’s a very obvious trend between forecast weather and the number of people that attend."
On Friday, the hottest parts of Norfolk will be Norwich, Thetford, Diss, Reepham, and Attleborough, with highs of 30C.
Beachgoers will be guaranteed warm weather, with Cromer and Wells hitting 28C.
