A music festival is returning with live performances, workshops, and community events.

The Cawston Music Festival will take place throughout June in the village of Cawston in venues including St Agnes’ Church and the village hall.

Its programme features concerts by the Cawston Community Choir, local organist Dr John Carnelly, and East Anglian folk artist Georgia Shackleton.

Rev Andrew Whitehead, vicar of Cawston, said: "Last year’s inaugural music festival was such great fun that we decided to do it all over again.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity to concentrate our efforts and fill the village with music for a few weeks."

Events include singalong sessions, workshops, a disco, and a music-themed quiz night.

Headline performer Georgia Shackleton will perform material from her latest album From the Floorboards, as well as traditional East Anglian songs.

She will be accompanied by guitarist Aaren Bennett. Expect an immersive journey through icy seas, eroding coastlines, and living oceans - honouring early explorers while reflecting on today’s fragile marine world.

The Cawston Community Choir, started after the COVID lockdowns as a way to encourage the return of singing in the community, will also take part.

Dr John Carnelly, former organist and head of academic music at Dulwich College, London, will perform a recital featuring well-known organ works.

A resident of Matlaske, Dr Carnelly has played at leading cathedrals in England and Wales and internationally in France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic and the USA.

The festival is coordinated by the village church and aims to raise funds for local groups and venues in Cawston.

All event details, venues, and ticket information can be found on the festival website at www.cawstonmusic.org.uk.

Cawston Parish Church is part of the Aylsham and District Team Ministry and will host a number of events throughout the festival.
