An empty town centre space could get a new lease of life under plans lodged with a council.

The scheme would see the upper floors of Carousel Amusements Arcade, on High Street in Sheringham, converted into holiday accommodation.

A planning application was submitted to North Norfolk District Council, seeking to convert the first and second floors into three holiday lets, with the ground floor remaining as amusements.

The building is situated within the Sheringham Conservation Area and was originally built as four traditional "one-up, one-down" brick and flint cottages.

It was later converted into an amusement arcade and leisure site in the early 1970s.

A heritage statement said the proposal includes improving the building’s external appearance and is unlikely to harm the character or architectural quality of the building or nearby area.

The application said that materials used in the design are intended to match the building and the High Street.
