A quiz night has raised more than £700 to support pupils in a special school.

The event, in aid of Sheringham Woodfields School, will help pay for new musical instruments and playground equipment.

It took place at the beginning of February, with 17 teams taking part.

Matthew Smith, business manager at the school, said: "During the evening, 17 teams took part with good-natured rivalry.

"During the interval, when a multitude of donated prizes were raffled, energy and ‘grey cells’ were revived by the delicious offerings of the Pudding Club – they never under-cater so, stomachs full, the second part of the evening went with a renewed swing."

Organisers raised a total of £702.

Nicola Stewart, a friend and trustee of the school, said: "We continue to be overwhelmed by the support we receive from friends, families and the wider community.

"It’s lovely to be able to provide value-for-money entertainment while at the same time, raising much needed funds for the school to provide some of the ‘extras’ which enrich our pupils learning experience."
