A double bill of Alan Bennett's acclaimed monologues is being brought to life on stage.

Sheringham Little Theatre will host the performance on Saturday, February 28, with two of Bennett's Talking Heads monologues performed back-to-back by North Norfolk actresses.

Both pieces offer a window into the lives of women navigating complex emotions and everyday struggles.

Sarah Westlake from Southrepps will perform A Cream Cracker Under the Settee, portraying the fiercely independent widow Doris.

Ms Westlake said Doris’ determination and humour shine through even in her vulnerable moments.

She said: "She’s very houseproud and uses her true northern grit to try to remain as independent as possible – determined not to be in old people’s home.

"It’s a sad story but told through brilliant wit and observation."

A Bed Among the Lentils tells the story of Susan, a vicar’s wife who finds unexpected comfort at a grocery store.

Bev Taylor from Sustead takes on the role of Susan.

Both monologues are directed by Libby Henshaw.

Performances will take place at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
