A rugby-loving care home resident has enjoyed a day out watching her favourite sport.

Overbury House resident Cynthia enjoyed an unforgettable day out when she attended a local Under-18 Colts rugby match between Holt Rugby Club and North Walsham.

She had been personally invited by one of the care home’s team members and players, Max.

Max, who works as a kitchen assistant at Wroxham-based Overbury House and plays for Holt Rugby Club, had been chatting with Cynthia about rugby when he discovered she was a passionate fan of the sport and a follower of England star Ben Youngs.

Delighted by their shared interest, Max asked Cynthia if she would like to attend one of his matches, an invitation she warmly accepted.

She joined supporters on the sidelines to watch the exciting game, which saw Holt triumph over North Walsham 25–21.

Max delivered an outstanding performance and was named player of the match.

Cynthia was thrilled by the close-fought contest and enjoyed every moment of her day, complete with a bacon roll and enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.

“It was such a wonderful day,” said Cynthia. “ I loved every minute of it.”

Overbury House is part of Healthcare Homes, which operates care services across the south and east of England.

The group runs 48 care homes, nine homecare branches, live-in care services and specialist care provision.

Health Care Homes said the Wroxham site is known for its welcoming atmosphere, beautiful period building with large bay windows, and landscaped gardens featuring mature trees, shrubs and a beach-themed area.

They added: "With a vibrant activities programme, the team at Overbury House strives to ensure residents feel valued, engaged and part of the wider community."
