A film festival is returning to north Norfolk this week with a Valentine's theme of love and romance.

During the week of Valentine’s Day, the annual Holt film festival is back for a weekend of films sure to pull on the heart strings.

The film festival is taking place from today to Sunday at Holt Community Centre, in collaboration with The Holt Bookshop.

The weekend will get under way on Friday evening with a showing of 1984.

On Saturday morning there will be a children’s film and pyjama party as well as a best dressed teddy competition.

Saturday’s line-up of films includes Love at First Sight, While You Were Sleeping, Four Weddings and A Funeral and Cinema Paradiso.

The English Patient will be Sunday morning’s film, followed by A Room With A View, and Brief Encounter later in the day.

Alongside the weekend's line-up of films there will be a photographic exhibition - ‘Expressions of Love’ - featuring pictures of what people love and what love means to them.

Phil Barratt, the festival's chairman, said: "We are really looking forward to this year’s festival, with the added attraction of the photo exhibition running alongside the films.

"Entry to each film is £5 and all profits from the weekend will go to Holt Community Centre charity, and the Community Café."

Pam Horrocks, co-owner of The Holt bookshop, added: "We are very excited to be involved again with the film festival in Holt.

"Last year's crime film festival was a great success, and we hope that this love themed selection of films will prove even more popular.

"There are some wonderful films being shown, as well as some fascinating author talks.”
