One of Norfolk's top bakers is going solo launching Matilda Rose Bakes across cafes in Norfolk.

Kirsty Thorpe is opening a new baking company supplying a whole range of independent coffee shops across the region.

The star baker has learned her trade in the region working in some of the best cafes and restaurants across Norfolk. 

She said: "I genuinely think baking is in my blood and I’ve always had a dream - ever since being a little girl - of opening my own cake shop".

Having learnt her craft at Biddy's in Aylsham, she went on to work on the award-winning afternoon teas at The Assembly House in Norwich.

She added: "I grew up with the most amazing baker who was my grandma. I lived with her from the age of two and there wasn’t a day that went by when she wasn’t rustling up the most amazing apple pie, crumble, or Norfolk shortcakes."

Ms Thorpe's bakes are available in some of Norfolk's best coffee houses and deli's including North Sea Coffee and the Fig & Olive, as well as celebration cakes being available to order. Plans are also in the works to supply some of Norwich's favourite spots.
