'Angel' water phenomenon seen at Hickling on Norfolk Broads

The strange opaque cloud, snapped by aerial photographer Mike Page, was seen on Hickling Broad and is purely a natural occurrence according to environmental experts.

Andrea Kelly of the Broads Authority said: "It's sulphur bacteria.

"Hickling, with its brackish water, has plenty of sulphur and when there is low oxygen condition it favours the sulphur bacteria, so it is often seen in patches between plants.

"Here it looks like the current has collected the patch. 

"It may also be a blue-green algae species which is also a dynamic feature."
