Viking folklore, mythology and music will combine at an upcoming family fair.

The Boar’s Head Collective of artists and craft folk is planning a fundraising Viking-themed gathering at Malverncroft, off Rectory Road in Ashmanhaugh, on Sunday, August 27.

Artist Lynne Saunders is organising the event in memory of her husband Gary, who died three years ago.

The fair will include a Viking encampment with children’s games, a charity tea and cake tent, live Irish folk band Coracle, a barbecue, bar and a tombola.

Proceeds will go to the acute oncology service at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and the Miracle Magents for Hearts -  a fundraiser for a new MRI scanner for Norfolk.

Ms Saunders organised a similar event last year

She said: “2020 had a huge impact on my life and my family.

“Both my husband and I were in hospital together. He was diagnosed with terminal and me with a heart attack and subsequent bypass operation.

“Sadly, Gary my husband passed away in June that year aged 59. I struggled to find myself artistically again. It seemed to take forever to wake up.”

Entry to the fair, which runs 10am-5pm, is £1 and under 16s go free.
