Revealed: Who are the faces on district council's top table?

Councillor Tim Adams has been re-elected to lead the council, while councillor Sarah Bütikofer was appointed chairman, at the council's annual general meeting on May 17.

It was the first full council meeting since the Liberal Democrats extended their majority on the council at May’s local elections.

The shake-up saw Sarah Bütikofer, who represents Priory ward, elected chairman - taking over from Pauline Grove-Jones, who bowed out of local politics after 16 years as a parish and district councillor.

Mrs Grove-Jones lost her Stalham seat at the local elections.

Mrs Bütikofer, who was leader of the council from 2018 to 2022, said: “Pauline, thank you for everything you have done.

“Thank you for being a role model for me when I started as a councillor.

“You will be missed by a lot of us and thank you for all of your service to this council and the people of north Norfolk.”

Mr Adams, who represents Cromer Town ward, keeps his position as leader of the council.

Councillor Wendy Fredericks, of the Mundesley ward, was named as the new deputy leader of the council and portfolio holder for housing and peoples services.

Mr Adams is also taking on the 'executive support and legal services' brief, while Lucy Shires takes charge of finance, estates and property services.

Andrew Brown is the planning and enforcement portfolio holder, while Harry Blathwayt takes on the coast portfolio.

The new cabinet position of 'climate change and net zero' goes to Adam Varley, while newly-elected councillor Callum Ringer is now the portfolio holder for IT, environmental and waste services.

Paul Heinrich is portfolio holder for sustainable growth, while Liz Withington is in charge of community, leisure and outreach.
