A new seafront café and cake shop is opening in Cromer - with special goodie bags for the first 20 customers.

Brunette Bakes, which is owned by self-taught home baker Chantelle Hubbard, is opening inside Lily-Mai’s Bar and Grill, in Cromer’s New Street, this Saturday (April 29).

The café will serve a variety of cakes and bakes made by Mrs Hubbard, who turned her passion for baking into a business when she started selling cakes and sweet treats from her Roughton home five years ago.

She is now living “every baker’s dream” by opening her own café at the coast.

“I’m very pleased and excited about opening,” Mrs Hubbard who was previously a full-time mum before starting her cake company, said.

“It was the next step for me. I think every baker's dream is to have their own café.

“I’m looking forward to it.”

Mrs Hubbard – a self-proclaimed “foodie” who “absolutely loves cake” - only came up with the idea of opening the café and cake shop a couple of months ago on the back of the success of her business from home.

"I’ve always baked for family and friends," Chantelle said.

"It was always a hobby which grew from there.

"I'm self-taught and I like to look back now at how much I’ve progressed. It’s definitely something I'm proud of.

"My husband has also helped along the way, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without him."

The café, which has a pink interior, will employ eight members of staff alongside its owner.

Brunette Bakes will be open from 10am tomorrow, with goodie bags filled with treats from local business for the first 20 customers on the day.

The goodie bags will include items from local beauticians, sweets, treats and more.
