There are so many fish and chip shops in Norfolk you’d be hard-pressed to try them all.
But that isn’t stopping food lover Matty Groundsell, who has set out to sample the delights of as many Norfolk chippies as he can over the next six months.
Under the guise of ‘the Chip Advisor’, Matty has started reviewing his takeaway meals and posting them on his Facebook page for others to enjoy and debate.

Matty said he had originally given himself the name on a community page for Hunstanton - where he lives.
He said: “There are some fantastic fish and chip outlets around and the reviews seem to be well received, and a bit tongue-in-cheek also.
“I have started to get a lot of requests, recommendations and even a couple of invites to review.
“As a chef with 20-plus years' experience working in some of the county's finest kitchens I feel I'm more than suited to my task.”

Among his favourites so far have been Mary Jane’s in Cromer - “A real old school classic chippy”, Lucy's Chip Stall at Norwich Market - “They smash it every time and do Norfolk and the city proud” and Plattens in Wells - “One of my favs as a kid”.
Mr Groundsell says his love of food began in 1998, when he had a job at the Krusty Loaf bakehouse in Hunstanton.

He said: “In 2003 I moved into professional kitchens - The Lodge at Old Hunstanton and then at the Le Strange Arms Hotel, where I fine-tuned it to the chef I am today.”
Since then he has headed up kitchens around north and west Norfolk, and now cooks for private clients, offering catering consultancy to restaurants and hotels.
His page also has reviews of a couple of burger and kebab shops, but plans to focus on fish and chips from now on. Matty wants to get through as many as he can by October.
