There has been a lot of water under the bridge since Marie and John Brooks got married.

The North Walsham couple are due to mark their platinum wedding anniversary on April 4.

Mrs Brooks, nee Lowe, 90, was evacuated to Fleckney in Leicestershire during the Second World War and stayed there with family afterward.

Mr Brooks, 92 was born in Leicester.

They met at a dance at the village hall in Kibworth, a village between Leicester and Kettering.

They married 18 months later in 1953, at the parish church of St Nicholas in Fleckney.

The couple lived in Leicestershire until they both retired in 1986 before moving to Herne Bay in Kent.

In 2014 they moved to north Norfolk to be nearer to family in Felmingham and Cromer.

They have a daughter, Jane, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr and Mrs Brooks are celebrating their 70th anniversary at home with family.
