Mr Redmond said Ms Clarke was someone who always went above and beyond the call of duty.

He said: “In 2022 alone she attended training and shouts on 61 occasions when the RNLI requirement was 12.”

Mr Redmond will stay at the station in as a volunteer medical trainer, and will also be a volunteer instructor at Wells Sea Cadets.

Paul Watling, the station’s coxswain and mechanic, praised Mr Redmond’s commitment to the station.

He said: “John is an excellent manager of people and is very approachable.

"His commitment to the station has been phenomenal and he will be sorely missed, especially the wide and varied range of stories he has to tell.”

Ms Clarke joined the station as a lifeboat administration officer in 2019, and trained to become part of the shore crew in 2020.

She said: “I have a fabulous team at the station, who have all offered me their continuing support in new role, which is amazing.

"I look forward to working more closely with the team in the future.”
