A new, permanent branch of Budgens will open in Holt next month, almost three years after the town’s only supermarket was destroyed in a devastating fire.

Budgens will open in Kerridge Way on March 30, on the same piece of land its former supermarket occupied

The supermarket will include a Post Office branch, which will open on 1pm on the same day.

Dozens of firefighters worked for hours to contain the fire on June 20, 2020, and managed to stop it from spreading to neighboring properties.

No-one was injured in the blaze, which Norfolk Fire and Rescue investigators later determined was due to an electrical fault.

Following the fire, Budgens set up a temporary supermarket in the Kerridge Way car park, which will close to make way for the new branch

The new Post Office’s opening times will be Monday to Friday 8.30am-5.30pm and 8.30am-2pm on Saturday.

The Post Office’s current, temporary branch inside Bakers and Larners department store in Market Place will close on March 29 at 5pm.

Both Bakers and Larners and the supermarket are owned by CT Baker.
