The skills of young pianists have been showcased in a new contest.

The inaugural EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association) piano competition for Norfolk attracted 38 piano students aged from eight to 18.

Two young Ukrainians, who came to Norfolk after their country was invaded last year, were among those taking part.

“The adjudicator was Jill Morton and several pianists were offered prizes and a place in the Final Round on March 5 at Recital Rooms, Covent Garden.”

Most participants were from Alderman Peel High School, Beeston Hall School, Gresham’s School and West Norfolk Academies Trust.

The winners were: Elementary - Santiago O’Dwyer and Nathaniel Gillette-Bahners; Intermediate 1 - Louie Latay and Christopher Tooley; Intermediate 2 - Iyrina Oliinyk and Rose Taylor; Advance 2 - Joshua Gatchalian and Matthew Hawkes.
