Weather permitting the B1150 North Walsham Road at Sprowston will be closed to traffic for resurfacing from Tuesday.
The work, costing 160,000, will involve the planing out and replacement of the damaged road surface from just south of the B1150 junction with George Hill and School Lane to a point about 40m north of North Walsham Road's junction with Allen's Lane.
The B1150 will be closed until Wednesday 20 January, but open on Saturday 16 January.
A diversion route using Barkers Lane/Church Lane, Wroxham Road, Chartwell Road and Constitution Hill will be marked. There will be a right turn ban in place at the junction of Church Lane with Wroxham Road to prevent long tail-backs building up. Traffic heading into Norwich will therefore have to turn left and use the new Blue Boar roundabout if they want to go into the city via Wroxham Road.
The final stage will take place on Sunday January 24, when School Lane will be closed near the junction with the B1150.
