Children at Aldborough joined thousands more around the nation in a world record attempt on Tuesday.

Fifty youngsters aged two and half to five from the Stepping Stones pre-school and village primary school took part in the Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes singalong.

They joined other children around the UK combining their efforts at 11am for five minutes in a bid to claim a place in the Guinness Book of Records for the most number of people doing the action game.

Local vicar the Rev Brian Faulkner and villager Jean Cooke were the independent witnesses watching the Chatterbox Challenge effort in a chilly playground led by teacher Hetel Patel.

Mum Kirsty White said: 'The children had a lot of fun, and all remembered the words and actions, unlike some of the mums, who got confused.'

The effort will also raise funds for I Can charity which helps children with communication skills.

I Can chief executive Virginia Beardshaw said it was a special year, marking the anniversary of the charity which helped with speech and language therapists and teachers for parents, carers and professionals to help children develop their speech and language skills.
