The phone has been ringing "off the hook" at a Norfolk watering hole after it was named the county's best destination pub.

The Rose & Crown in Harpley, near Great Massingham, was recently announced as a Norfolk category winner at the public-voted Muddy Stilettos Awards 2024. 

The family-run pub has built up a strong reputation for great food using local produce and friendly service, with landlady Alice Darlow delighted to see hard work paying off for her team.

She said: "Being named Norfolk’s best pub is a testament to our staff, who are more like family, and also to our fabulous customers who are all friends.

"The competition was fierce and with so many incredible pubs in the mix, we were thrilled to come out on top.

“We are usually fully booked on weekend evenings and all day on Sundays, but winning this award has made the phone ring off the hook all week."

The Rose & Crown is open from 12noon daily, including their Late Lunch Club with a buy one get one free offer on meals between 2pm and 4pm on weekdays.

Five local ales are always available at the bar, alongside west Norfolk drink brands such as Archangel Gin, WhataHoot Spirits and mixers from The Artisan Drinks Company.

On Friday and Saturday evenings, the pub runs a street food hut in the garden, offering wraps, ramen, burgers and more to eat in or takeaway, and roasts are served on Sundays.

Chef Dom Ebbs recently took to the stage at the East Anglian Game & Country Fair at the Euston Hall Estate, where he wowed attendees with his cookery demonstration using local venison.
