Holt United Youth Football Club holds their presentation tomorrow evening (May 18) at the Sports and Social Club. starting at 6.30pm.

n Holt United Under-14s were crowned North East Norfolk Youth League champions after beating Reepham Town 2-0 in the final game of the season.

Holt dominated from start to finish and had to work very hard to break down a well organised defence. Holt took the lead on 25 minutes when Sam Shoenmakers crossed right footed for Lewis Meecham to head home. Dogged defence and the woodwork prevented the Owls from increasing their lead until five minutes from time, when Nay Nay Ahmad found himself in the middle of the box and slotted home.

Both teams can look back on this season with satisfaction, Reepham won the U14 league cup and Holt were deserved league champions, scoring 141 goals and conceding only 12, as they picked up 58 points from their 21 games. The league trophy will be presented to the team at the annual youth presentation evening along with a congratulations card signed by Paul Lambert and the Norwich City team.

  • Holt U14's final game of the season at home to Reepham was always going to be a hotly contested affair and with a crowd of almost one hundred spectators the green army did not disappoint the home support. For the first time this season, the home coaches had a pick of sixteen players for the showdown and Reepham too were at full strength for top of the table clash. Superior goal difference between the two top teams meant that Holt had already become league champions, but nonetheless Holt had a point to prove. Holt started brightly and limited Reepham to few chances with the back four of Bushby, Smith, Reid and captain Robson in total control. Meecham and Harris were dominating midfield and Tucker always looked dangerous going forward. The Reepham goal seemed to live a charmed life as chances went begging time and time again. The breakthrough came just before the interval, when after another goalmouth scramble, Schoenmakers found space on the right hand side of the six yard box. With his right foot, produced a sublime cross to the head of Meecham who powered home past the helpless keeper. The second half was much the same as the first, with chances created but not taken and Clarke looking dangerous up front for the Robins. Kerrison then had to be replaced through injury and Burton-Pye was introduced, and produced some telling crosses from the left side of midfield. A special mention must be made to Kerrison, who has had a difficult season through injury, but has helped inspire this team to the title in more ways than one. Pegg continued to battle hard up front, but the season seemed to have taken it’s toll after more than twenty games this season and forty plus goals. Coe, Potter, Ahmad and Storey were all introduced in the second half and played a major part in a truly remarkable season. The icing on the cake was left to Ahmad in the dying minutes when we went two up to put the game beyond Reepham. @HoltUtdYouth

  • Congratulations to the Holt United U14's team on their league title success. Having watched them this season, I have been impressed with the quality and style the team have played with. Hopefully, this team can stick together for years to come and go on to represent the club as adults.
