London 2NE: Beccles 24, Hampstead 19

15:04 16 April 2012

Already relegated Beccles won their final game of the season in London 2NE to ensure they climbed off the bottom of the table.

The Bulls showed their intention from the start with fast ball from the half backs combination of Sale and Harmer. Quick into the breakdown, Hinsley and Stark secured a good platform for Izuzquiza to score in the corner.

Hampstead replied with a converted try before Wade scored a penalty for the hosts. Hampstead scored another converted try but Beccles hit back with skipper Lake scoring a converted try from a driving maul and Wade added a penalty to make it 18-14 at the break.

Wade increased the Beccles lead with a penalty before Hampstead scored again.

Spectacular runs from Hall and Duruk crashed through the backline, allowing forwards Rix and Wilson to trundle through Hampstead’s scrambled line. Yet another penalty was conceded by Hampstead and Wade finished off a good kicking performance by adding the penalty.
