Archant

The dramatic moment part of a cliff collapsed in a landslide on the north Norfolk coast has been captured on video.

Michelle Savage, from Norwich, was out walking her five-year-old springerdoodle, Frank, on the beach at Trimingham when a torrent of mud and rock came pouring down the cliff-face and onto the sand.

It happened about 4pm on Sunday, March 11.

Ms Savage said: “The dog got spooked by the movement, so I looked to see what he was barking at and then filmed it.

“It was a really strange moment as the cliff came down - it was almost a bit sci-fi. There was a really slow rumbling and then it came down in a great mass of mud and rock.

“It looked quite spooky.”

Pete Revell: “Coastguard rescue officer from the Mundesley and Happisburgh Team, said: “At the moment we are seeing lots of cliff falls around the coast and our message to everyone is to stay away from the top and the bottom of the cliffs as they are very dangerous and unstable.”

Coastal erosion in an ongoing issue in the Trimingham area, whose cliffs include the youngest chalk in the UK.
