A group of cartoon characters were involved in one of the first crimes of 2012 - after an assault took place at a north Norfolk pub on new year’s day.

Superman, Captain America, Shaun the Sheep and Tigger were caught up in the serious assault, which took place at the King’s Head in Holt just after midnight on January 1.

Simon Little, Holt’s new sergeant, informed members of the town council about the incident at a meeting last night while giving his first crime round up report.

He said the case had been listed as a serious assault but said there was a “light hearted” side to it.

“The victim was in fancy dress dressed as Superman with Captain America and the suspect was Shaun the Sheep, who was working in conjunction with Tigger,” he added.

“Enquiries are ongoing with that one.”

Sgt Little told members there had been a total of 17 crimes across the Holt area since the council’s last meeting in December.

These included:

● Seven incidents of domestic related crime

● Two thefts

● Two cases of shop lifting

● One common assault

● Two incidents of criminal damage, which included an arson attack on a set of wheelie bins
