A person who died after being struck by a train just outside Cromer was a 59-year-old woman.

The incident happened on Saturday, December 1, just after 10am, at Roughton Road Railway Station.

British Transport Police (BTP) have confirmed the age of the victim, but said they would not be releasing her name or additional details before an inquest into the fatality had been scheduled.

Norfolk Constabulary, fire and rescue and ambulance services were all called to the scene of the incident, which was not being treated as suspicious by police.

Speaking at the weekend, a BTP spokesman made a request to the public for information, saying: “Officers are currently working to establish the identity of the person, and inform their next of kin.

“HM Coroner will been notified and BTP are conducting an investigation in to the events surrounding this incident.

“It is requested that any information about this incident be passed to British Transport Police by contacting 0800 405040.”

Social media users have shared their sympathy with the victim’s family and the driver of the train.
