Lane to be closed on North Walsham Road for 8 weeks as work is carried out

PUBLISHED: 09:52 12 October 2017 | UPDATED: 10:10 12 October 2017

Delays are expected following the announcement that a lane will be closed on the B1150 North Walsham Road for eight weeks.

The lane will be closed so that a timber deck and a footbridge can be repainted, which is on the northern edge of Coltishall and adjacent to the Bure Valley Coltishall Railway Station.

Work is due to start on Friday, October 27, and will cost around £110,000.

In their announcement, the Norfolk County Council said: “In order to carry out the works it is necessary install a lane closure on the North Walsham Road so that while the footbridge is closed an alternative path can be provided for pedestrians.
“This restriction will be necessary for the full duration of the works including overnight and at weekends. The Bure Valley Railway and footway, which run under the bridge will be unaffected by the works.”

The work will involve erecting scaffolding to provide access and contain debris, as well as cleaning and painting steelwork, and replacing the timber deck of the footbridge.

The works were identified during the Council regular bridge inspection regime and are being carried out in order to maximise its useful life.

The County Council thanks people for their patience while this bridge maintenance work is carried out.

The work will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.
