It started out as just one man’s collection, but it now attracts visitors from all over the world.

The Norfolk Motorcycle Museum in North Walsham now boasts about 150 motorcycles, with the oldest dating back to the 1910s, and the newest, to the start of the 21st century.

Steve Harmer, curator and manager, said: “My father, George Harmer had a collection of about 50 motorcycles and we were looking for somewhere to house them. It’s just grown from there really, and we’ve continued to add to it.

“The bikes are primarily British but we also have some French, German and Italian.”

The museum in Station Approach, Norwich Road is open six days a week, closed on Sundays, and Mr Harmer said it was visited by a wide range of people, including many from overseas.

Highlights of the museum include a blue Henderson that used to belong to Percy ‘Dodger’ Kerrison in Norwich and a Rudge TT.

  • Moppet: the answer could be the so called reporter which was sent to do the article didn't know one end of a bike to the other, let alone bother asking the different makes.
