The loved ones of a Roughton woman who died earlier this year have raised more than £1,000 for a cancer charity.
Cancer sufferer Heather Cutting married her partner Trevor Collings at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital earlier this year but lost her battle with the disease and died in April.
Since then her nearest and dearest have been helping to fundraise for other people in Norfolk who are affected by cancer.
Mr Collings raised more than £1,200 last month with 12 of his wife’s closest friends and family.
The group took part in the Rotary Club of Great Yarmouth’s 10-mile spring charity walk in Acle on Sunday May 20 as part of the Big C appeal.
Mr Collings said: “I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who sponsored us.”
As part of the Walk of Thoughts event Mr Collings printed t-shirts with a photo of Mrs Collings on the front and a poem on the reverse.
Mr Collings also set up a Lavender Fund in April - which is part of the Big C appeal - in his wife’s name and has raised £495.50 to date.
The couple met 11 years ago and moved to Chapel Road at Roughton eight years ago after finding their “dream bungalow”.
They had almost finished renovating their home when Mrs Collings became ill on New Year’s Eve last year and was shortly after diagnosed with cancer.
