The Royal Norfolk Show is known for its agricultural delights and grand ring attractions, but this year, a whole town has come together to set up a stall at the show.
Businesses from Aylsham want to showcase what their community has to offer by setting up camp in a large marquee under the banner, Discover Aylsham, at the show on June 26 and 27.
Those attending will include representatives from Blickling Hall and the Bure Ralley Railway, along with shops and retail businesses from the town which has a population of around 5,000.
Visitors to the marquee will be entertained with demonstrations including baking and seed planting, as well as visual entertainment featuring facts about the town.
Deborah Blake, chairman of the Aylsham Business and Enterprise Forum, which organised the trip to the show, said: “It’s a tremendously exciting chance to show ourselves off as a destination, to showcase the town.
“It will be a very interactive marquee, with lots of activities alongside promotion of businesses. We believe it is very unusual, possibly even unique, for a town to take a marquee to the Royal Norfolk Show.”
She added: “The idea is that people come along and find out a little about Aylsham while they are at the show – and then come to discover the town itself soon after.”
Visitors to the marquee near the Countryside Ring, number 114, can also be entered into a prize draw to win a prize Aylsham Hamper worth £400.
The Royal Norfolk Show will take place at the Norfolk Showground at Costessey.
Gates will open at 8am and the show itself is open between 8.30am and 6pm on both days.
Tickets can now also be bought online, until the day of the show itself, and printed at home, although traditional purchase methods will still be available.
A family ticket (two adults and three children) is £50 (£62 on the gate), an adult ticket is £19 (£22 on the gate), a child ticket for youngsters aged five to 16 is £7 (£9 on the gate), under fives go free and senior citizens and registered disabled tickets are £17 (£20 on the gate).
