The Resolute was drifting towards turbines at the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm 19 miles north-west of the town.

Offshore lifeboat Lester was launched about 5.10am following reports that the vessel’s propeller had failed after a rope or piece of netting was caught in it.

Lifeboat operations manager Richard Leeds said: “We were towing The Resolute for about an hour after arranging for the vessel to be picked up by the Humber Lifeboat.

“During the course of this time whatever was around the propeller came free, so vessel no longer needed assistance and the operation was stood down.”
