Maybe Mr Trett wouldn't be so flippant and ignorant if it was his home the fire service were fighting to save!!

I get increasing annoyed at these trivial and ill informed comments aimed at our emergency services. Firstly thatch fires are very labour intensive to fight as the water runs off the thatch because that's what thatched roofs are designed to do, so you have to strip it out. Also several of these crews are in fact small units, eg the support and control units are only vans manned by two or three personel, not full fire crews, and carry out special functions like lighting and pollution control etc. So it might be worth readers doing a bit of research on the fire services website before making ill informed comments.

Eight fire crews! It's more than painfully obvious the fire brigade are grossly overstaffed.
