Mourners at the funeral and wake of north Norfolk-based freelance journalist Maurice Gray put £765 towards the unit that took care of him for more than four years.

Now his widow, Margaret Luckett-Gray, has handed over a cheque to the medical staff at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital’s Weybourne unit.

Mrs Luckett-Gray, from Walcott, said: “I am absolutely overwhelmed by the kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity of everybody who donated.

“Thank you all, most sincerely, from the bottom of my heart.

“Maurice would have been so humbled, but so proud, to have been able to help the Weybourne Unit. The staff were so grateful.

“Stay safe and a very Merry Christmas to you all.”
