Robert Chaplin
Born in Northampton, Robert Chaplin moved to Gorleston as a youngster. After leaving school, he studied graphic design at Great Yarmouth Art College, and went on to pursue a career in advertising in London and Europe.
Robert, who now lives at Ludham, returned to live in Norfolk 10 years ago, since which time he has been able to develop his own unique style, using pastel, ink and crayon.
"I have tried to develop a style that enables me to capture scenes in a more graphical mood, in keeping with my experience in the contemporary world," he says.
Robert's work exclusively features Norfolk scenes, and he is particularly inspired by the Broads and its surrounding landscapes. His work is widely exhibited all over the county and he was recently sponsored by Great Yarmouth arts development organisation the SeaChange Trust to exhibit his own interpretation of the urban
landscape on the town's South Quay.
Robert Chaplin's paintings and prints can be seen at C21, Mundesley, Church Street Gallery, Cromer, The Galley@ Horning, Southwold Gallery, and at Silver Darling's Cafe at the Time and Tide Museum, Great Yarmouth. For more information, e-mail: y.art@hotmail.co.uk
