A Scout group which lost its headquarters three years ago because of damp and rot is pushing for help in raising money for a new home to be built.
The 1st Mundesley Air Scouts began raising money for a new community centre to replace the rotten and leaking building on Cromer Road, more than three years ago.
Originally they were looking to create a new eco-friendly building costing up to £150,000, but now that has changed.
Bruce Hogg, chairman of the Scouts group, said: “Despite the magnificent efforts of so many people in Mundesley and elsewhere, it has been impossible to raise the amount of money to construct the building in line with the original concept.
“It has been decided therefore, that whilst an eco-friendly building is still the ultimate aim, some changes in the design will be necessary.”
So far the group have managed to raise £45,000 for the new hut, but need another £10,000 to start the first phase of the work.
Thereafter, additional funds will be needed to complete the building.
The Scout group is also appealing for a new group Scout leader as Heather Palmer, who currently holds the position is to step down from the role as soon as a replacement can be found.
Anyone who can help with fundraising or who wants to apply for the Scout leader position - no Scouting experience is necessary, should contact Mr Hogg on 01263 720943.
